These objects emerge from a search for a soothing balm for our uncertain times. It triggered a desire to return to a kind of innocent nature and primitive past — a utopia that is again in vogue as our modern lives become increasingly disrupted and dictated by the rise of new technologies. Aluminium, bronze, brass and ceramics are blended together with an experimental casting technique that allows the materiality of each to stand together yet apart. Like geological samples unearthed from an ancient world, the weathered layers and rugged surfaces allude to how permanent nature is in contrast to our fleeting realities today. Their unfamiliar forms and compositions also hint at other worlds yet to be discovered, whether from the past or the future.
