Objects from nature are coated with plasma metal spray, a technology widely used in the aerospace industry, to create “high-tech” artefacts that were seemingly dug up from a parallel landscape or a distant future. Their silver sheen symbolically suggests both the preservation and immortalisation of nature, as well as its utter domination by machines and the man-made. The fusion of two extremely different materials in a single object allow us to traverse a multiplicity of dualities—past and future, nature and artificial, found and made—to consider new aesthetic possibilities.
